The Aged Care Act 2024 is the new Australian law that will replace the current aged care legislation on November 1, 2025.
It establishes a new rights-based framework for aged care, focusing on a person-centred approach that prioritizes the rights and choices of older people accessing government-funded services. Key aspects include a Statement of Rights, stronger provider obligations, a new regulatory framework, and a single entry point for aged care services.
Palm Lake Care’s Resident Handbook is currently being updated to reflect the changes implemented and will be available in the near future.
