Respite is a short term stay designed to give a carer a break, but may also be used when the unexpected happens. Respite at Palm Lake Care gives you 24/7 nursing care and assistance plus the company of others with the opportunity to engage in the lifestyle activities provided.
It means peace of mind that your loved one will be cared for when you can’t. It also gives a taste of contemporary aged caring communities and all they have to offer.
Palm Lake Care recommends a minimum of 2 weeks respite to provide a full experience as well as enable the carer to rest and rejuvenate as much as possible.
Aged Care Assessment
Confirms government subsidies toward approved care. You will need to provide the Referral Code for Residential Respite Care. The numbers usually start with a 1- or 2-. Contact My Aged Care 1800 200 422 to arrange an assessment if this hasn’t been done yet. The waiting period for an assessment can be between 6-8 weeks.
Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA)
Confirms the decision-making authority.
We need to sight the original (for copying) or receive a certified copy, to retain on file. If you don’t have an EPOA- let us know so we can provide information to assist you

Fees & Charges for Respite Care
Government subsidises the care and accommodation costs for respite stays and requires people to contribute through the Basic Daily Care Fee.
Palm Lake Care also provide Additional Services at some of our Communities. The Additional Services or lifestyle extras, include a variety of meal choices and superior lifestyle options. In these residences there is an additional daily charge.

24 hour residential care
24 hour residential care is provided by a range of clinical and care professionals. These may include visiting doctors, dentists, audiologists and allied health specialists such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists plus Palm Lake Care round the clock registered nurses, enrolled nurses and personal carers.
Our chefs, cooks and food service teams, housekeeping and maintenance crews make important contributions to the home environment being one we can all be proud of. Our Lifestyle team uncover interests and encourage interaction, social engagement, friendships and fun.
